All the apples are off the trees and the Farm is closed for the fall season, which is the perfect opportunity to explore one of our neighboring towns. Bad Seed Cider is run by high school buddies and local apple farmers. You may have visited their Brooklyn tap room or seen them at their city farm market. Get a behind the scenes tour of their cider brewing facility while you sample their latest apple cider blends, like this weekend Cranberry Hard Apple Cider. Two bars in a restored and renovated historic apple cold storage building. Outside seating with yard games and other fun. Pet friendly and kid friendly! Open Saturdays and Sundays 12pm to 7pm. Frida's Bakery & Cafe is a local favorite. Delicious food and a great indoor playroom for kids with huge foam blocks for them to stack and crawl through. Their individual chicken pot pies are cravable as are all their bakery items including their Frida's signature cake. They have kids cooking classes and other special events. Indoor and outdoor seating. Open everyday 7am to 5pm. On the bottom floor is a laundry mat if you are looking to multitask during your outing.
If the weather is nice you can swing by the playground at Shantz pond. a FREE playground area, picnic pavilion, and pond for fishing. If you are reading this in Summer they have free music events on the weekend. In winter you could bring your ice skates if the pond is frozen enough.
Milton hardware is full of surprises. In spring and summer they have all your gardening needs. Support local and pick up some of the paint, screws and decorative items that you have been meaning to get. Their drive thru lumber yard will make your building supply pick up just that much easier.
It's what is on the inside that counts at Kirky's Deli & Pizzeria. The owner is super nice and usually there. They have delicious breakfast sandwiches as well as the more common hoagies. Eat in or take to the park if the weather is nice. On certain days, like this Saturday November 10th, they have a bbq special which includes ribs and other tasty home cooked items. Looking for fine dining and some pampering without the kids? Check out Henry's at the Farm which is part of Buttermilk Spa. Farm to table dining and craft cocktails will have you spending the entire night. Located on a beautiful piece of property on the Hudson River. Definitely a place to go for special occasions. I scream you scream we all scream for Ice Cream. Sadly Milton Lakeside Lick's is closed for the season, but mark it in your favorites. Their Highland location will be open with both hard and soft serve ice cream. Family owned and operated with tons of yummy ice cream flavors to choose from soft and hard. Located right next to a gun store, Ulster Firearms, if you are getting ready to go hunting for the Thanksgiving Turkey and a Barbershop if you need a trim.
