Sunny but cold with all our farm ponds filled to the brim. I just received a phone call from a woman named Lois who used to live in the area but recently moved to Massachusetts. She wanted to know if we would deliver pear sauce to her so she can gift it to her family members. I am sure Lois is not the only one wanting to give Hurds items as gift, right?
Our winter hours are Saturdays and Sundays from 10am-4pm until December 16th. While you are holiday shopping at the farm you may as well cut down your own Christmas tree. We provide a haywagon ride out to the Christmas tree forest, the saw and the bailing. Just think, one stop shopping for your tree, gifts, wreaths, kissing balls and other holiday decorations. Wild Blapple - It’s like a grape or raspberry jelly but the flavor is extra special because it’s made with Wild Grown black caps harvested from the woods of our farm. Black caps are like blackberries, but these Hudson Valley natives have a couple week summer growing window and you have to fight the birds to get them at the peak of juicy ripeness.
Pearple Marmalade - Hurds pears and apples blended with oranges and grapefruits. You can see pieces of the soft cooked rinds suspended throughout for extra flavor and texture. Out favorite way to enjoy is a spoonful on top of salmon before putting it in the oven to create a yummy flavorful glaze. Also great on English Muffins.
