A beautiful sunny day and a bit of relief from the heat with a high of only 83° and a nice breeze. We had our 1st 2018 Summer group visit! When you make a reservation at Hurds in our Summer season you get the whole farm exclusively for your group. Our farm activities, picnic pavilion, barn, nature trails and scenic open spaces are all included in the Summer site rental for Camps, Reunions, or Birthday Parties.
*Come challenge each other this Summer on our Farm Obstacle Course. Filled with old farm equipment that has been repurposed for you to jump, climb, crawl and slide on. Race each other on our mirror courses as you learn about the farm. *Added January 2, 2019
NEW this year we have added an irrigation demonstration for you to GET WET in. The cows love it, and so do the kids and counselors. See and feel the difference between modern drip irrigation and rotating sprinklers.
The bounce, giant slide and fish feeding in one of our irrigation ponds out the north side of our barn are always a hit. When your feeding the fish keep your eyes peeled for turtles and frogs!
Our kids corral playground area is jam packed with activities that kids love. It is conveniently located right next to our picnic pavilion which is the perfect place for lunch or team meetings.
Cool off with a cider slushy, duck races, or uncovering precious stones in our shaded gem mining sleuth.
Keep your eyes peeled for critters in our nature trails and while you are walking through you can read a farm themed story. We also have plenty of hands on farm themed lessons to keep happy campers engaged.
The flowers in our pollinator gardens are full of bees and butterflies. This is a perfect place for photos and to see nature in action.
Take home a farm to table treat like our no sugar added apple sauce or local honey stick in our Dutch barn market.
When visiting us in the Summer come prepared. Wear comfortable walking/hiking shoes. Make sure to have sunscreen, hat and possibly an umbrella to protect yourself from the sun as you walk around. We have plenty of cold drinks for purchase in our Barn Market, but you are welcome to bring your own water, snacks or picnic lunch. We recommend water shoes, towel, and a change of clothes for our irrigation demo.
